Vehicle imports fell by 50 percent, electric vehicles zero

Compared to the last fiscal year, only 50 percent of the vehicles have been imported. Vehicle imports declined as the market closed due to Covid 19.Vehicles and their parts worth Rs. 18.44 billion were imported in July and August of the last fiscal year 2077/78.Only Rs 9.74 billion worth of vehicles and their parts have been imported in the first two months of the current fiscal year.During the same period last year, 70,877 motorcycles and scooters of 50 to 250 cc were imported. In the current fiscal year, 27,670 motorcycles and scooters have been imported.

Similarly, 310 motorcycles of 250 to 400 cc have been imported in the current fiscal year, according to the customs department. Last year, 893 motorcycles ranging from 250 to 500 cc were imported.Only 127 electric motorcycles and scooters have been imported. Last year, 357 were imported.

Due to Covid 19, the purchase of two-wheelers is expected to increase but it has not increased. The two-wheeler auto dealer, who introduced an attractive scheme after the first lockdown, said that the market has risen by 80 percent.

Auto imports, which had declined by Rs 27 billion last year due to the downturn in Chait, have declined due to lack of demand in the market.

Imports are expected to be lower this year than last. The biggest impact has been on commercial vehicles. For example, in the first two months of last year, 137 large buses were imported, but this year, 27 have been imported.

Similarly, out of 94 minibuses imported last year, only six have been imported this year.

The best-selling vehicles in Nepal are up to 1,500 cc. Four-wheeler entrepreneurs have not been able to sell vehicles after Chait. Entrepreneurs have been saying that they do not want to buy a car due to loss of income due to lockdown and uncertainty about the condition of Kovid due to lack of money.

Of the 1,519 cc petrol engines imported up to 1,500 cc last year, only 867 have been imported this year.

Similarly, out of the 107 imported diesel engines of 1500 cc, 389 vehicles were imported last year.

Last year, there were 234 imports ranging from 15 hundred to 25 hundred, but this year 70 have been imported.

Electric vehicle zero

Entrepreneurs have not imported electric vehicles as the government has increased the tax on electric vehicles in the current fiscal year's budget. The data of the customs department has shown that passenger vehicles were not imported after the customs and excise duty on the vehicles that came to the customs before the budget was increased.

Auto dealers selling electric vehicles have been saying that electric vehicles cannot be sold in Nepal unless the tax is reviewed.

Most of the countries in the world have been giving exemption for the promotion of electric vehicles. The government of Nepal has increased the customs duty from 10 percent to 40 percent.

Entrepreneurs have repeatedly asked the government to amend it, but the government has not listened to them. Last year, 701 electric vehicles were imported in July and August.

गत आर्थिक वर्षको तुलनामा ५० प्रतिशत मात्रै सवारी साधन आयात भएका छन्। कोभिड १९ को कारण बजार बन्द हुँदा सवारीसाधन आयात घटेको हो।

गत आर्थिक वर्ष २०७७÷०७८ को साउन र भदौमा १८ अर्ब ४४ करोडको सवारीसाधन तथा तिनका पार्ट्स आयात भएको थियो।

चालू आर्थिक वर्ष २०७७÷०७८ को साउन र भदौ दुई महिनामा ९ अर्ब ७४ करोडको मात्रै सवारीसाधन तथा तिनका पार्ट्स आयात भएको छ।

गत वर्षको यही अवधिमा ५० देखि २५० सीसीसम्मका गत वर्ष ७० हजार ८७७ वटा मोटरसाइकल तथा स्कुटर आयात भएका थिए। चालू आर्थिक वर्षमा २७ हजार ६७० मोटरसाइकल तथा स्कुटर आयात भएका छन्।

त्यसैगरी चालू आवमा २५० देखि ४०० सीसीसम्मका ३१० मोटरसाइकल आयात भएको भन्सार विभागको तथ्यांकले देखाएको छ। गत वर्ष २५० देखि ५ सय सीसीसम्म ८९३ वटा मोटरसाइकल आयात भएका थिए।

विद्युतीय मोटरसाइकल तथा स्कुटर १२७ वटा मात्रै आयात भएको छ। गत वर्ष ३५७ वटा आयात भएका थिए।

कोभिड १९ को कारण दुईपांग्रे सवारीसाधनमा खरिद ह्वात्तै बढ्ने अनुमान गरिए पनि बढ्न नसकेको तथ्यांकले देखाएको छ। पहिलो लकडाउन खुकुलो भएसँगै आकर्षक स्किम ल्याएका दुईपांग्रे अटो व्यवसायीले ८० प्रतिशतसम्म बजार उठेको बताएका थिए।

चैतदेखि लकडाउन हुँदा गत वर्ष २७ अर्बले आयात घटेको अटो आयात यो वर्षको सबैभन्दा बढी बिक्री हुने सिजन दशैं तिहारलाई लक्षित गर्दै भदौंमा आयात हुनुपर्ने व्यवसायीले बजारमा माग नहुँदा आयात नै कम गरे।

यो वर्ष गत वर्षभन्दा पनि कम आयात हुने देखिएको छ। सबैभन्दा बढी प्रभाव कमर्सियल भेहिकलमा परेको छ। उदाहरणका लागि गत वर्षको पहिलो दुई महिनामा १३७ वटा ठूला बस आयात भएकोमा यो वर्ष २७ वटा आयात भएको तथ्यांकले देखाएको छ।

त्यसैगरी गत वर्ष ९४ वाटा मिनिबस आयात भएकोमा यो वर्ष ६ वटा मात्रै आयात भएका छन्।

नेपालमा सर्वाधिक बिक्री हुने १५ सय सीसीसम्मका गाडी छन्। चारपांग्रे व्यवसायीले चैतपछि गाडी बिक्री गर्नै सकेका छैनन्। लकडाउनका कारण आम्दानी घट्नु तथा पैसा भएकाले पनि कोभिडको अवस्था कस्तो हुने हो भन्ने अनिश्चितताको कारण गाडी खरिद गर्न नचाहेको व्यवसायी बताउँदै आएका छन्।१५ सय सीसीसम्मका पेट्रोल इन्जिन गत वर्ष १५ सय १९ वटा आयात भएकोमा यो वर्ष ८ सय ६७ वटामात्रै आयात भएको छ।त्यसैगरी डिजेल इन्जिनका १५ सय सीसीमम्मका यो १०७ आयात भएको गत वर्ष ३८९ वटा सवारीसाधन आयात भएका थिए।१५ सयदेखि २५ सयसम्मका गत वर्ष २३४ वटा आयात भएकोमा यो वर्ष ७० आयात भएका छन्।

विद्युतीय गाडी शून्य
सरकारले चालू आर्थिक वर्षको बजेटमा विद्युतीय सवारीसाधनमा ह्वात्तै कर बढाउँदा व्यवसायीले विद्युतीय गाडी नै आयात गरेका छैनन्। बजेटअघि नै एलसी खोली भन्सारमा आएका गाडीमा भन्सार तथा अन्तःशुल्क बढेपछि प्यासेन्जर भेहिकल आयात नै नगरेको भन्सार विभागको तथ्यांकले देखाएको छ।

विद्युतीय सवारी बिक्री गर्ने अटो व्यवसायीले करमा पुनरवलोकन नभएसम्म विद्युतीय गाडी नेपाल ल्याएर बिक्री गर्न नसकिने बताउँदै आएका छन्।विश्वका अधिकांश देशले विद्युतीय गाडीलाई प्रवर्द्धन गर्न छुट दिँदै आएकोमा नेपाल सरकारले पहिला १० प्रतिशतसम्म लगाउँदै आएको भन्सार ४० प्रतिशत बनाएको छ भने पहिला अन्तःशुल्क नलाग्नेमा अहिले गाडीको मोटरअनुसार ३० देखि ८० प्रतिशतसम्म अन्तःशुल्क लगाउने आर्थिक ऐन बनेको छ।व्यवसायीले यसलाई संशोधन गर्न सरकारलाई बारम्बार भने पनि सरकारले अहिलेसम्म व्यवसायीको कुरा सुनेकै छैन। गत वर्ष साउन र भदौमा ७०१ वटा विद्युतीय गाडी आयात भएका थिए।
